About The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is about a group of friends on a sunny road trip through rural Texas who make a fateful stop at an old farmhouse… only to discover it's home to a twisted family of cannibals, led by the chainsaw-wielding, mask-wearing Leatherface. Gunnar Hansen's Leatherface wears three different masks in the film, and Hansen said the character changes personality with each one: the "Killing Mask" for the hunt, and the "Old Lady" and "Pretty Woman" masks for playing other roles inside the family's farmhouse. Banned in several countries on release, the film still grossed over $30 million, and a print of it now sits in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
